The work of Religious sisters worldwide, working against human trafficking and exploitation, is beautifully acknowledged in the ‘ Nuns Healing Hearts’ campaign launched for Talitha Kum by Pope Francis at the UISG Plenary on 10 May 2019.
Talitha Kum is a network of Religious network spanning 76 countries, working in education, awareness-raising, direct action and prevention of human trafficking and exploitation. The Sisters usually live and work in the very communities where people are most vulnerable to these crimes and live day by day with the victims and survivors.
Such firsthand witness places the Sisters in unique positions to know exactly the extent of human trafficking and exploitation and to respond in meaningful ways to the needs of victims.
