Enhancing understanding of the commercial sex trade, its impact on women and girls who are sexually exploited, on communities and on society at large.

Ruth Breslin, was the guest speaker at APT’s first meeting of 2024, held on 8 January last. Ruth has more than 20 years of experience in research in both NGOS and academic settings. She is currently with SERP (Sexual Exploitation Research Programme) at UCD. This is the leading research programme in Ireland on commercial sexual exploitation.

In presenting an informative PowerPoint, Ruth spoke for an hour, sharing a series of most informative slides on all the major aspects of this problem. As well as giving an overview of SERP’s recent research topics, Ruth also spoke of proposed research on pornography, and aspects of the 3rd National Strategy.
